Line Technicians

Line Technicians install and repair cables, wires and other equipment you typically see on utility poles and transmission towers.


As a Line Technician, you will:

  • Use safety equipment and work safely.
  • Install equipment needed on utility poles.
  • Climb utility poles or use truck mounted buckets to reach equipment.
  • Identify and replace defective devices such as fuses, switches, and wires.
  • Inspect and test power lines and other equipment using special reading and testing devices.
  • Lay underground cables.
  • Operate large equipment - boom trucks, cable equipment, pole mounting equipment, earth movers, loaders/diggers, and cranes.

  • You'll also need to:

  • Work well with others as part of a team and keep focus on their safety.
  • Listen and understand customer needs and how to meet them.
  • Show a good natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Be able to be on your feet for a long time.
  • Be comfortable with heights and working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Stay active and be able to handle physical work.
  • Be someone our customers can count on to keep their lights on in all types of situations.
